Durban Mayor advises motorists to be cautious on the wet road

Mayor Kaunda said the SA weather service said there is a rain probability of 60 per cent with a rain amount of 20mm in Durban today.

ETHEKWINI Municipality mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda has urged motorists to exercise extreme caution while driving on wet roads during the heavy rainfall which is expected to continue throughout the day into the evening.

The South African Weather Service forecast has indicated that there is a rain probability of 60 per cent with a rain amount of 20mm in Durban today.

The Mayor has also cautioned residents, living in flood-prone areas, to be vigilant and alert the disaster management centre on 031 361 0000 in case of emergency.

“Our disaster management teams are ready to respond and assist residents who might be affected. We also urge motorists to keep a safe following distance and to obey road rules to avoid accidents,” said Kaunda.
