Addington beach clean-up

COASTAL Ghost, an NGO founded by Stefan Graunke, together with Atholton Primary and Atlas Copco, teamed up to clean Addington Beach recently.

The clean-up was hugely successful and was thoroughly enjoyed by the learners who also learned the value of cleanliness and the importance of preserving our beaches and the environment.

“Sustainability is one of our key core pillars at Atlas Copco. The environment and the preservation of our beaches is high on our agenda and, through this initiative, we wanted to educate the learners about the value of our beaches, the importance of cleanliness and the preservation of our environment. We are excited to see our relevant team members and the community unite to help achieve this vision,” said Atlas Copco compliance manager, Marilyn Govender.

In addition to this initiative, the organisation will further its efforts through drawing awareness to the preservation and care of the environment through offering educational talks at schools in the Durban area.

“Cleaning up a beach is a wonderful idea though, we needed to ensure longevity of our efforts so, the best approach is to educate the children at grassroots level, on the importance of environmental preservation as well as cleanliness and better hygiene all round,” she said.
