Cricket captain fondly remembers school

ENGLAND’S ODI and T20 cricket captain has a connection with St Henry’s Marist College.

Captain, Eoin Morgan, attended St Henry’s Marist College in 2003 for four months, as the school he was attending in Ireland at the time sent him with a fellow pupil to play cricket at St Henry’s.

During his stay, he was hosted by the Heffer Family. Devin Heffer, brand and communications manager for Hollywoodbets, fondly remembers playing in the St Henry’s 1st XI side with Eoin during which time Eoin scored two hundreds and four fifties that season, and finished with an average of 90.

Devin recently met up with Eoin and had him autograph a St Henry’s 1st XI cricket cap and a cricket bat, which was donated by Michael Ross, the school’s 2014 Head Boy.

Added to this, Eoin surprised St Henry’s with an autographed ICC Cricket 2019 World Cup shirt, on which he wrote a message to the school – “To St Henry’s, I loved my time at the school, thank you.”

Eoin captained the winning team England in the 2019 World Cup.

St Henry’s learners were thrilled to have received these autographed items which will be going into the new St Henry’s museum on the first floor of the Brothers House.
