ALERT Durban Central K9 police officers arrested a 28-year-old man who was found with a hijacked vehicle in Durban Central last week.
Captain Nqobile Gwala from provincial SAPS said on Tuesday, 4 of February at 9.30pm, a police officer was in Umbilo when he received information of a hijacked vehicle driving towards the Durban CBD. Following up on theinformation the police office went to a flat in Joseph Nduli Street where a Mercedes Benz was found with the driver inside.

“When the suspect was searched police found an unlicensed firearm in his possession. Preliminary investigations conducted at the scene revealed that the vehicle was hijacked in Sydenham on 3 February. The suspect was arrested for possession of a hijacked vehicle and is due to appear in the Durban Magistrates Court,” said Gwala.
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Khombinkosi Jula praised the police officer for being vigilant and for acting swiftly.
