“The DHS management team is of the opinion that the relationship and trust between the two schools has deteriorated to such an extent that holding sporting fixtures is no longer in the best interests of the two institutuions or beneficial to current and future learners of DHS,” he said.

Glenwood annouced on their Facebook page that DHS would be cancelling all sporting and cultural relations indefinitely, including their 95-year-old rugby fixutre.

“It is unfortunate that a resolution could not be reached, as was the case in 2013 when a similar issue arose between the two schools,” read a statement signed by Dr Andri Barnes, principal of Glenwood.

In 2013, DHS suspended all activities with Glenwood after accusing the latter of poaching their cricket coach who in turn attempted to take DHS’s best players with him.

Barnes said her school abides by established protocols with regards to admissions, pupil transfers and teacher recruitment. She added that the school was committed to solving the impasse.
