Durban SAPS appeals for information on abandoned baby

Police believe the woman they have an identikit of can assist in solving a case of child abandonment.

DURBAN Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) is appealing to thee community to help with information regarding a case of child abandonment under investigation.

Commenting on the case, Durban Central SAPS’s Const Zanele Khomo said it is alleged that on 15 December at about 4pm, Durban Central police attended to a complaint of child abandonment at the intersection of Queen and Prince Albert Streets, Durban.

“A newborn baby was found inside a bag and upon searching the bag police saw the name M Kheswa written inside. She is believed to be staying around the Umlazi township,” said Const Khomo.

Police believe the woman they have an identikit of can be of assistance in solving the case. Anyone with information can contact Det W/O Muthusamy on 031 325 4116 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
