South African Writers’ Circle is encouraging aspiring writers to join up for this initiative.

GINNY Porter from the South African Writer’s Circle will conduct writing workshops in January for aspiring authors, as well as published authors who would like to sharpen their writing skills.

Ginny is a published author and academic with a Masters in Higher Education. She has extensive experience in teaching and running workshops. Ginny has been involved with the SA Writers’ Circle since 1999 and over the years has arranged many writing seminars and run numerous workshops. She has published books from children’s to academic literature and general fiction. Currently she obtains work from educational institutions to edit academic work.

The workshops will be conducted on two consecutive Saturdays – 25 January and 1 February – starting at 9am and finishing at 1pm in Room G4, Westville Library, Westville Civic Centre, Leister Drive, Westville. A further two-day follow-up course held over two consecutive Saturdays will be advertised separately, and the course content will differ.

The cost of the course is R300 for the two sessions. The textbook for the course will be available at the workshop for purchase at a cost of R120.
Candidates who have missed a session of the previous workshop will be allowed to attend for R50 to cover the cost of refreshments.
Tea and snacks will be served.
