FELIX Dlamini Road had to be closed to traffic earlier today (Friday, 10 January) to allow fire fighters to work at extinguishing a fire at a block of flats at the intersection of Felix Dlamini and Essendene Roads in Overport.
Durban Fire and Emergency Services extinguished the fire which broke out in a flat on the top floor of Hawa Mansions.
According to reports, a curtain caught alight and the fire spread in the flat, in which a woman was allegedly trapped.

The Fire Department was called and a Bronto Skylift was used to reach the upper floor to extinguish the blaze. The woman was rescued, and no injuries were reported.
Felix Dlamini Road has been re-opened to traffic. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
