Man killed in Umbilo hijacking

The Umbilo resident sustained three gun shot wounds to his chest and was declared dead on the scene.

AN Umbilo resident was shot and killed during a hijacking at his home on 3 December.

According to Capt Pumzile Makaula from Umbilo SAPS, at around 8.30pm the man arrived home in Prospect Road and parked his vehicle in the driveway.

“It is alleged that he got out of the vehicle and walked towards the gate to close it. His son then heard gunshots outside and ran out of the house to check what was going on. He saw a man driving away in his father’s vehicle, a white Golf 1. It is alleged that the suspect fired at the son who ran back inside the house,” she said.

Sadly, the son’s father sustained three gunshot wounds to his chest and was declared dead on the scene.
