THE Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit is making an appeal to the community to assist with information which will help solve two cases of rape.
Mboneni Joseph Zulu, (33), is wanted for a case of rape that was committed on 27 July 2013 at 3.30pm in Dr Pixley Haseme Street.
Const Zanele Khomo from Durban Central SAPS said the incident took place inside a student residential flat, where a 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped by the suspect.
“The suspect was a known tutor and was assisting the victim with an assignment. He has been on the run since the incident took place. A case of rape was opened for investigation and a warrant of arrest has been issued by the court,” said Khomo.
In the second case, Eric Kabene, (42), is wanted for rape that was committed between 1 September and 20 December 2013.
“This was in a residential place in Mahatma Gandhi Road, where a 23-year-old woman was allegedly raped by the suspect who was her stepfather. The suspect has been on the run since the incident took place,” said Khomo.
She said a case of rape was opened for investigation and a warrant of arrest has been issued by the court.
“We will continue to look out for rape suspects throughout the 16 days of Activism operations and festive season period to ensure the safety of the community,” she said.
