Durban SAPS appeals for info on Blue Lagoon rape case

Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is appealing for information regarding two local cases.

DURBAN Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit is appealing to the community to assist with information regarding two cases they are investigating.

Const Zanele Khomo from Durban Central SAPS said it was alleged that on 19 August at about 11pm, a 15-year-old girl was going to the toilet at Blue Lagoon, where she was approached by four men in a vehicle.

“One of them jumped out of the vehicle and called the girl, but she ignored them. Two men then grabbed her and covered her mouth. They drove with her to an informal settlement where she was raped by one of the men. She managed to flee after she was left alone in the shack,” said Khomo.

Police believe this man can help in the investigation of the case on 19 August.

In a second case, it is alleged that on 17 September at about 11.45am, a 32-year-old woman was walking along Umhlanga Rocks Drive when a vehicle stopped near her.

“The woman was offered a lift to work and she informed the driver that she needed to get out at the Engen garage. The driver drove past the bus stop and stopped a few meters away. While he was driving he touched her thighs and pulled her dress up. He then dropped her in Mount Edgecombe,” said Khomo.

Police believe this man can help in the investigation of the case on 17 September.
