Help TAFTA make Christmas special for the elderly

Your contribution towards Christmas lunches means more than just a good meal.

TAFTA is encouraging the community to help make Christmas a special time for the elderly in its care, by donating money towards a hearty Christmas lunch.

This year, Tafta wants to invite 1 912 elders to its annual festive lunches at Tafta homes and wellness centres.

On the menu will be a traditional three-course meal – starters, followed by roast lamb and chicken, potatoes and vegetables, with Christmas pudding or trifle to finish. But at R110 per person, Tafta can’t do it without help from the public.

“Your contribution towards Christmas lunches means more than just a good meal. It means a rare opportunity to ‘dress up’, enjoy companionship and laughter, music and entertainment, and even dancing at some of the venues! You’re giving a few precious hours of joy for someone who often feels left out and forgotten by the rest of the world,” said Femada Shamam, Chief Executive Officer of Tafta.

A donation of R220 pays for two elderly friends to go to lunch together, and if you’re feeling really generous, you might like to sponsor a table of six or eight with a donation of R660 or R880.

To support this initiative, contact The Association for the Aged on 031 332 3721 or visit: www.tafta.org.za to donate online.
