WATCH: Siya! Siya! Siya! chant Durban crowds as boks get heroes welcome

A sea of green and gold, waving flags and chants welcomed the Springbok world rugby champions to Durban.

DURBAN’S blood runs green and gold. That was made obvious this morning as the Springboks  parade travelled from Umhlanga to Durban, stopping in at KwaMashu on the way to greet ecstatic fans.

In welcoming the Boks, Durban Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda said Durban was proud of the rugby world champions and said the team had inspired many youngsters with their sterling performances in the Rugby World Cup. “Many young people take up sport as a career path, and this team has inspired them,” he said.

Traffic came to a standstill and flag-waving crowds lined the streets of the CBD as the parade snaked its way to the City Hall to the chanting of Siya, Siya, Siya!
