St Henry’s Trust hosts inaugural business event

A Business Breakfast was held to raise funds for the school’s Scholarship and Bursary programme.

THE St Henry’s Marist Trust hosted its first Business Breakfast on Friday, 18 October to raise funds for the school’s Scholarship and Bursary programme while at the same time creating a platform for the professional community to connect.

Guest speakers at the event were Mark Appleton, head of Multi-Asset and Strategy at Ashburton Investments, and St Henry’s Old Boy Devin Heffer, who is the brand and communications manager at Hollywoodbets.

Speaking at the event, College Principal, Dr Stephen Leech, said the Trust intended to make this an annual event, and he highlighted what the Trust does at the school.

He said the Trust was established two years ago, started with funds donated by a benefactor.

“Many learners are interested in attending St Henry’s but require the financial support to do so. We experienced a great deal of pressure to provide support for these worthy learners and funds raised by the Trust will go towards this. We will also use the funds to focus on capital development projects, such as two which are being facilitated by the Trust currently. These are the development of a chapel at the school as well as the extension of the amphitheatre and the development of more classrooms,” he said.

He said the school is now 90 years old, and the Trust is tied up in a strategic vision of where the school will be in the 10 years as it approaches its centenary.
