Mobile app for maths and science launched

Edify will be released in beta format, only on Android, and with content for Grades 11 and 12 mathematics.

A BOOST for learning maths and sciences for all school learners will soon be available. Eduworks, a not for profit aimed at providing free education technology, is launching the Edify mobile app in time for the Matric class of 2019.

Edify will be released in beta format, only on Android, and with content for Grades 11 and 12 mathematics. Edify is an easy to use mobile app, with content preloaded, and once downloaded, requires no additional online access, thus providing unlimited use to the lessons.

The full application will be completed and launched in February 2020, and will cater for maths and sciences for Grades 1 to 12.  Edify is fully aligned to the South African CAPS curriculum and will be available on both IOS and Android.

Founder and tech entrepreneur, Willy Govender is the brainchild of this initiative and wants to address the lack of content and learning tools to those that cannot afford additional education outside the schooling system, although he stresses that Edify is for everyone.

Building on the Digischool platform that is also available for free for all schools, to assist teachers, Eduworks is now making its content more freely available and encouraging that parents become more engaged with their children’s educational needs.

With the first phase targeting all matriculants and Grade 11 school learners, the impact next year is that over 10 million school kids will be able to access STEM subject material on smart devices, working totally offline, with assessment tools to assist in revision and understanding these subjects that are vital to building a technology savvy skills base in South Africa.
