Suspect in custody for drug possession

The recovered drugs had an estimated street value of R140 000.

THE Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit’s warn against the drug trade yielded results last week when officers recovered drugs at a premises in Gillepsie Street in the Point area.

According to Col Thembeka Mbele, police acting on intelligence driven information, found a 39-year-old man in possession of 1 700 tablets of ecstacy, 83 mandrax tablets and more than 98 grams of cocaine powder.

“He was immediately arrested and charged for possession of drugs. He was taken to Point police station for detention and he will appear in the Durban Magistrates Court. The recovered drugs had an estimated street value of R140 000,” said Mbele.
