Don’t miss Durban Fashion Fair

Designers make their mark in 15 shows that form part of the DFF.

BE sure not to miss this year’s Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) 2019, a treat for all fashion lovers with more than 50 designers – including six from other African countries – showcasing their designs on the ramp at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre, between Wednesday, 25 and Friday, 27 September.

Presented by the eThekwini Municipality as part of its successful Fashion Development Programme, the DFF, now in its eighth year, brings exceptionally talented designers, the media, fashion buyers as well as patrons together for the very best in local fashion with top class shows that allow local creatives to strut their stuff alongside the best in the world.

EThekwini Municipality has invested substantial sums in internships, industry related training programmes, networking sessions and various lifestyle and modelling programmes and boot camps to discover hidden talents that can put Durban on the fashion map. This will also ensure that when it comes to design, Durban is a top contender, and the current “crop” of new faces are evidence of just how effective this has been.

After doing an open casting call earlier this year for aspiring models, who do not belong to an agency, within the greater eThekwini Municipality, the judges narrowed down the hopefuls. This year, a third category of models – the plus size category – has been introduced.

To win double tickets to the DFF show on Friday, 27 September, visit the DFF New Faces Model Competition on the Facebook page (Durban Fashion Fair), “like” your favourite model and you could be a winner.

Tickets for all evenings and events are on sale via webtickets.co.za or at Pick ‘n Pay outlets. Tickets are R100 per person per show, with students paying R50 per show. Tickets for the Awards Evening – at R200 per person – are also on sale. Limited tickets will be sold at the door.
