Hijacked vehicle recovered in Morningside

A motorist was in Rosetta Road, Morningside, when he was approached by a man who produced a firearm and demanded the keys to his motor vehicle.

BEREA SAPS recovered a hijacked vehicle around 8.44am in Morningside on 26 August.

According to Capt Poobalan Naidoo from Berea SAPS, a motorist was in Rosetta Road when he was approached by a man who produced a firearm and demanded the keys to his vehicle and his cellphone.

“The suspect then drove the vehicle to the intersection of Madeline Road and 10th Avenue where he parked the car and left the cellphone in the car. Captain K Stephen tracked the complainant’s cellphone and the coordinates showed that the phone was in 10th Avenue,” said Naidoo.

Warrant Officer J Pillay and Warrant officer F Sarkhot were sent to the the location to look for the vehicle, which was found at the intersection. The cellphone was also recovered.

Naidoo commended the officers on their good work.
