DURBAN University of Technology’s Professor Eric Amonsou is a food scientist with a passion for nutrition, human health and well-being. He is at the cutting edge of food research and food innovation. He is also guest speaker at Durban Critical Thinkers August meet-up.

Anyone interested in gut health, veganism, dietary innovation and cutting-edge food science is invited to hear Prof Amonsou at Ambrosia restaurant, Glenwood, on Wednesday, 14 August at 6pm for 6.30pm.

Go along and eat, drink, make merry and have your question answered at this soiree-style event. A special menu will include gut-friendly dishes, vegan fare and a selection from Ambrosia’s traditional Greek menu.

Prof Amonsou – recipient of last year’s Innovator of The Year Award at DUT – will engage openly in the following areas, among others:

· Why we eat. How we eat. What to eat. How to shop.

· Basics of nutrition: the intake of food relative to our dietary needs

· The three white poisons and how to recognize them on nutritional labels

· Can your microbes make you lean or fat?

· What are gut microbes? And colon health: real or fad?

· How food science can help you make better decisions
