Police seek information on rape case

Police believe the men they have identikits of can help with the investigation.

POLICE are looking for information to help solve a case of rape which occurred on 25 May 2018.

According to Captain Nqobile Gwala, it is alleged that around 8.45pm, a 26-year-old woman and her companion were seated inside a vehicle on Mahlathi Road in Chesterville when they were accosted by three armed men.

“At gunpoint the suspects forced them out of the vehicle. One of the suspects took control of the vehicle and drove off to a remote area. One suspect dragged the woman victim into the bushes and raped her. The suspects fled the scene and the victim called for help. She was assisted by members of the public who informed them that they were in Dassenhoek,” she said.

The case was reported to the Cato Manor police station and the docket was transferred to the Brighton Beach Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for further investigation.

“The Brighton FCS Unit is making an appeal to the community to assist with regards to the whereabouts of the men in the identikits they have. They are believed to be in their 30s and can assist in the investigation of the rape and carjacking,” said Gwala.
