By-election for new ward councillors

Voting stations will be open on 7 August between 7am and 9pm for the by-election.

RESIDENTS of wards 27 and 31 are encouraged to vote on Wednesday, 7 August, in the ward by-election.

Take your ID to your nearest voting station and elect the new ward councillors for these areas.

Candidates for ward 27 are Johan Mhlanga (African National Congress), Ernest Smith (Democratic Alliance), Thulani Myeni (Economic Freedom Fighters) and Ahmed Vawda (Inkatha Freedom Party). For ward 31, candidates are Easlyn Young, (African Christian Democratic Party), Zamokwakhe Mchunu (African National Congress), Astrid Fisher (African Transformation Movement), Charmaine Clayton (Democratic Alliance), Mlekeleli Doncabe (Economic Freedom Fighters) and Yaseen Adam (Inkatha Freedom Party).

Voting will take place at the following stations in ward 27: Clarence Road Primary School, Randall Hall, Greyville Tennis Club, Livingstone Primary School, Girl Guides Hall, Kings Park Athletic Stadium and Morningside Sports Club.

Ward 31 voting stations are at: Berea Primary School, Norwegian Hall, Ridge Park College (tent), Hartley Road Primary School, Clayton Primary School, Springfield Model Primary school, Spearman Road Primary School and Sparks Estate Secondary School.

Applications for special votes for the by-election are open, and special votes will take places on 6 August from 8am to 5pm.

All voting stations in wards 27 and 31 will be open and the IEC will do home visits for the disabled, pregnant, or elderly.

Special votes are for those who cannot make it to the voting stations on 7 August between 7am and 9pm or for those who have physical difficulty in making it to the station.
