Congella Park recycling centre celebrates first milestone

A get-together was held to commemorate the first time three containers were filled with cardboard in one week.

UMBILO Business Forum (UBF) members and workers at the recycling centre at Congella Park recently celebrated a milestone for the centre.

Ian Campbell-Gillies said a get-together was held to commemorate the first time three containers were filled with cardboard in one week.

He said the project of economic inclusivity driving down crime and recovering lost city assets such as Congella Park continues strongly.

“Our focus now is the revival of the entire Dalton area next, with benefits for the entire Glenwood, Umbilo and Bulwer areas due to significantly reduced source-of-crime emanating from this poverty afflicted area where service delivery has failed over many years,” he said.

The public is encouraged to drop off light plastic, paper and cardboard at the recycling centre. For drop off times and collection arrangements, the community can contact Lindiwe on 072 342 7403 or email: manazaproject@gmail.com. The centre is open for contributions from the public between 8.30am and 11am.
