Attend Sea Sunday service

This interdenominational service is commemorated internationally.

THE annual international Sea Sunday Service is at N Shed cruise liner terminal, Port of Durban, on Sunday, 28 July at 11am.

Rev Marius Schoombie of the NG Church, South Coast congregation, will lead the service and the SA Army Band will participate in the service.

This interdenominational service is commemorated internationally and aims at paying tribute to seafarers but not only to those “who go down to the sea in ships”, but also includes those who work in the ports, be they on vessels or on land. The maritime profession, whether it entails working on vessels as they cross the oceans, or working in ports, at sea or on shore must be one of the most demanding and often dangerous professions, particularly bearing in mind the tragedy of piracy attacks. The devotion to duty of the maritime rescue services and those who ensure that sea related recreational activities are safe for the community are also focused on.

A notable aspect of the service is the blessing of the Port of Durban. After the service tea and coffee will be served. All are welcome.
