Report faulty street lights

A contractor was recently appointed to address the issue in the city.

REPOET faulty street lights! Thats the request from ward 33 councillor Mmabatho Tembe who says keeping the lights on will help curb crime.

Tembe explained tha the municipality had been without a contrctor to fix street lights for a number of months but since a contrctor had been appointed, it was time to address the many faulty lights on the city streets. She urged residents to report any street lights that were not working and to ensure they got a reference number.

“For those who have reported street lights that are not working, they must follow up and send me a copy of their correspondence and reference number. Residents are also encouraged to put in suggestions for areas where they feel street lights should be erected, especially those areas that are dark at night. We need to light up the area in the hopes of reducing some crime in the area,” she said.

She said the contractor was dealing with a backlog of reported cases and residents would have to be patient while these cases were attended to.
