Fun, food and edutainment at fundraiser

The Annual Gardener Breakfast in support of The Sunflower Fund was held on Thursday, 13 June.

FANS of all things flora and fauna were treated to a meaningful morning of fun, food and edutainment at the annual Gardener Breakfast in support of The Sunflower Fund on Thursday, 13 June.

Keynote speaker, Tanya Visser, owner and editor of The Gardener Magazine and host of The Home Channel’s popular show, ‘The Gardener’ on DSTV, schooled guests on “Lessons from the garden – translating into life lessons from triumphs to monumental disasters!” Tanya’s charismatic and passionate presentation was both informative and therapeutic for the mind and soul.

Fashion designer and Sunflower Fund ambassador, Karen Monk-Klijnstra, was the morning’s delightful compere and the regional Sunflower Fund team inspired and enlightened guests about their many exciting developments including the organisation’s movement to drive partnerships and donor recruitment throughout Africa to better serve the local patient base and rapidly developing needs of global patients.

Funds raised from the event will enable The Sunflower Fund to create awareness and education about blood stem cell donation, recruit more blood stem cell donors, grow the patient support fund and maintain a registry of committed donors.
