Comrades donate shoes to charity
Local and International Comrades Marathon runners donated 383 pairs of pre-loved running shoes to the Community Chest.
COMRADES Marathon runners donated their running shoes to the Community Chest, one of the six official charities of the Comrades Marathon Association.
Local and International Comrades Marathon runners who attended the three day Comrades Expo in Durban the week before the Comrades Marathon, donated 383 pairs of pre-loved running shoes and another 220 ‘gently used’ clothing items to the Community Chest in Durban. These items were distributed last week to various organisations, including Katsi Youth in Action, Durban Mental Health Society and Streetwise.
The handover was attended by Pat Freeman and Alen Hattingh, representing the Comrades Marathon Association. Zama Mabaso, Deputy Director of the Community Chest, expressed her gratitude to the runners for their donation.
