Take on Amazing Race

GLENWOOD locals, Hylton Forge and Dave Wright of Equinox Events are putting together an Amazing Race event and are encouraging the community to enter teams.

The event takes place on Saturday, 13 July from 10am to 1pm, starting and ending at Stella Sports Club in Helen Joseph Road.

The duo aim to host around 150 people, with teams made up of a maximum of five people.

Teams will start the race from Stella, armed with a booklet of cryptic clues, which will lead them to various places in the greater Durban area, including Glenwood, Umbilo, the harbour, Morningside and Durban North.

“Participants will need to either pick something up, do a task or take a photo at various places, and once they are finished, will make their way back to Stella. There will be prizes for the first 10 teams,” said Hylton. There will be live entertainment at Stella after the conclusion of the race.

Hylton and Dave are well-known in the community for their weekly quiz nights at Stella. They said they are excited about this event, and intend on doing more Amazing Races on a regular basis.

“Everything is ready to roll! We put a lot of though and effort into devising the race, and it took us a few days to get everything together, but a lot of the places we approached as ‘stops’ on the race expressed their interest, now we just need participants,” said Dave.
