Eighteen arrested in police operations

The purpose of the operations was to prevent crimes such as car hijackings and theft of motor vehicles in Durban and surroundings areas.

EIGHTEEN people were arrested during operations conducted by the eThekwini Central Cluster SAPS in Umbilo and Sydenham at the weekend.

According to Const Zanele Khomo from Durban Central SAPS, the purpose of the operations was to prevent crimes such as car hijackings and theft of motor vehicles during the busy weekend in Durban and surrounding areas.

“Blue light visibility and stop-and-searches were conducted from Friday until Sunday morning. A total of 18 suspects aged between 21 and 48 were arrested for possession of drugs,” she said. Khomo said the suspects appeared in Durban Magistrates Court this week.
