Good work by Durban security officer

A security officer apprehended two suspects in less than 24 hours.

A PRIVATE security officer has been praised for his quick response and bravery which led to the arrest of two suspects, who are now in police custody.

The first incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, 23 May when the Fidelity ADT received an alarm activation from a Berea Secondary School.

Officer, Michael Mtshezi, was immediately dispatched and while patrolling the school grounds, noticed a suspect hiding in a bush. He immediately gave chase and successfully apprehended the suspect and handed him over for arrest to Berea SAPS.

A stolen door from one of the classrooms was recovered in a nearby bush.

Later that day, at 2.20pm, Mtshezi responded to a panic signal at a home in ZK Matthews Road.

Upon arrival, Mtshezi noticed two suspects on the property and immediately gave chase and apprehended one of the men.

The homeowner was extremely grateful for the officer’s quick response and explained that the suspects had held his son at knife point but had fled as soon as they heard the officer arrive.

The suspect was handed to Umbilo SAPS.
