Theft out of vehicles on the rise, warns Durban SAPS

Durban Central police station has seen an increase in theft out of motor vehicle cases in the central business district and surroundings.

POLICE have issued a warning to motorists to be aware of an increase in the number of theft out of motor vehicle incidentds.

Const Zanele Khomo from Durban Central SAPS communications said they had noticed an increase in theft out of motor vehicle cases in the central business district and surroundings.

“SAPS Durban Central is urging motorists to be vigilant and alert when parking their motor vehicles. It is noted that drivers leave their belongings on the car seats which attracts criminals. We urge motorists not to expose laptops, cell phones, bags and wallets and to ensure that doors and windows are properly locked. When locking using a remote control, double check the doors are properly locked. It is also advisable not to keep large amount of cash inside the vehicle,” said Khomo.
