Assistance sought in assault case

Brighton Beach Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is looking for information following a sexual assault in Umbilo.

THE Brighton Beach Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit is seeking assistance from the community with regards to a sexual assault case they are investigating.

Captain Nqobile Gwala from provincial SAPS said it is alleged that on 14 April at 3am, a 20-year-old woman was sleeping in her room in Umbilo when she was sexually assaulted by a man who entered the house.

“A case of sexual assault was opened at the Umbilo Police Station and was transferred to the Brighton Beach FCS Unit for investigation. The investigating officer is searching for the man in an identikit they now have, and believes that he can assist in solving this case. He is tall in height, slender built and dark in complexion,” she said.
