CANSA hosts Relay For Life

CANSA Relay For Life is an impactful, team experience, usually taking place overnight, that mobilises cancer survivors and the community to stand together in the fight against cancer.

THE Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) is inviting cancer survivors and community members to take part in its annual CANSA Relay For Life event on 30 March at Hoy Park ground (Durban central) from 2pm to 2am.

Teams of 10 to 15 people register to participate in the relay event. Teams set up team sites and take turns walking around a track. Because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the overnight event.

Throughout the nigh there is a host of entertainment, including local DJs, dance schools and live bands.

During the event, team members are free to socialise, picnic, play games, dance and participate in fun activities.

Teams are required to pay a registration fee of R1 000 for corporate teams and R500 for student teams (should have a chaperone teacher or parent), and commit to raising additional funds to help CANSA enable research, reduce the risk of cancer through education and health awareness while also providing care and support to those affected by cancer.
