Body of drowned teen recovered at Blue Lagoon

An inquest case is currently being investigated by police.

SEARCH and rescue teams have recovered the body of a Zimbabwean teenaged boy who was swept out to sea near Blue Lagoon on Saturday afternoon.

According to SAPS spokesperson Thulane Zwane, police divers came across the 17-year-old boy’s body after extending their search to the backline.

The boy, who was with a friend, allegedly tried to cross the Umgeni River on Saturday when the outgoing tide swept him out to sea and he drowned. His friend managed to cross safely.

An inquest case is currently being investigated by police.
