Taking a leap of faith for poppy awareness

Keri Miller will be skydiving with skydivers representing the SA Legion and will land on the field at the Kingsmead Stadium during the one day international against Sri Lanka.

EAST Coast Radio’s Keri Miller will be taking on an adventure of a lifetime on Sunday, 10 March, with her first tandem skydive into Kingsmead Cricket Stadium, all to raise awareness for the SA Legion.

Keri will be skydiving with Vernon Kloppers, along with skydivers representing the SA Legion, Andrew du Toit and Michael Nyman, and will land on the field at the stadium at 1.30pm during the one day international against Sri Lanka.

Speaking about the event, Keri said it was a no-brainer! “Who wouldn’t want to do this, and get to enjoy a skydive without having to do all the training? I’m pretty sure Vernon wants to live too, so I’m safe! It’s going to be awesome to go in a light aircraft for the first time, to see Durban from above and to land in a stadium full of people. Also, we get the best parking at the cricket! I’m freaking excited,” she said.

Keri and the men are hoping to raise awareness around the work the SA Legion does, and of the use of the poppy as the Flower of Remembrance.

The SA Legion will be handing out poppies and will also have stick on poppy tattoos available to create awareness.

They encourage the public to join them at the cricket and watch Keri make her grand entrance.

The public can also enter a competition to win a tandem skydive. To enter visit: https://www.salegion.durban/skydive or scan the QR Code which will take you to the page on the SA Legion’s website.
