The woman opened a case of common assault against Simelane at the Umbilo Police Station on Tuesday.

The docket will be submitted to the National Prosecuting Authority once the statements from independent witnesses who attended the event, as well as the relevant evidence, have been obtained.

Simelane has been in the news this week after a video she posted on Instagram showing visuals of her partner Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo physcially attacking her went viral. Mamphintsha appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court earlier this week and was granted bail of R2000 and instructed not to communicate with Simelane.
