Durban SAPS anti-crime actions yield results

There have been a number of arrests made by members of SAPS in order to reduce crime in Durban central.

DURBAN Central SAPS is embarking on various crime combating operations in Durban Central with the aim to clear the city of criminal elements.

According to Capt Muzi Maphumulo from Durban Central SAPS corporate communications, officers arrested a number of suspects for various crimes in the city.

Five suspects were arrested after having been found in possession of stolen computers and monitors, and in another operation a man was arrested for possession of abalone with a street value of R72 000.

In a separate incident a robbery at a traffic light at Soldiers Way was intercepted, and a suspect was arrested after committing a robbery using a toy gun.

The gun was confiscated and drugs (heroin) was found in the man’s possession.

Another suspect was arrested after having forcefully removed a gold chain from his victim.

“There have been a number of arrests made by members of the SAPS in order to reduce crime in Durban central. We also warn those who buy from criminals that they will be arrested as well. The rise of crime is because of the people out there who support criminal activities. We warn the community to be vigilant,” said Maphumulo.

All crime should be reported via 10111.
