Thieves target car batteries in Durban

The police have arrested some of the suspects linked to cases where batteries have been stolen from cars.

DURBAN Central SAPS is urging car owners to be aware of a new criminal trend police have noticed in Durban.

Captain Muzi Maphumulo from eThekwini Cluster Communications said the latest treand showed that criminals were targeting car batteries.

“We have recorded a number of cases where batteries have been stolen from cars parked on the streets in Durban. The police are doing routine patrols to the areas of concern but the crime is scattered all over,” said Maphumulo.

The police have arrested some of the suspects linked to these cases, but motorists are urged to be vigilant.
