Newborn found in packet, dumped in Glenwood

Advanced life support paramedics arriving on scene said the baby boy had already succumbed to his injuries.

A NEWBORN baby was found dumped in a rubbish bin at the intersection of Bulwer Road and Lytton Avenue in Glenwood on Tuesday afternoon.

Garrith Jamieson said Rescue Care Paramedics were called to the scene by concerned residents at around 12.45pm, after seeing the baby in the packet.

“Advanced life support paramedics arrived to find the baby boy had unfortunately already succumbed to his injuries. The body was then handed over to the SAPS who will be investigating further,” said Jamieson.

Paramedic Ceron Meadows, the paramedic who declared the little boy deceased, expressed her concern in the rise in numbers of babies being dumped in Durban.

She urged all mothers to seek help and assistance. “Rescue Care Paramedics have responded to multiple calls of this nature recently,” she said.
