Students threaten to shut down campuses

UKZN has suspended its academic programme at all KZN university campuses following student protests this morning.

Unisa confirmed that its students are now also striking.

STUDENTS have disrupted services at the Durban University of Technology and UKZN campuses and are threatening to shutdown campuses until all their demands are met.

Among the list of grievances is the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

UKZN Students are demanding that  NSFAS be compelled to fund all post graduate programs as well as undergraduate programs offered by the university.

They also want concessions made by the university to cater for all students, including those funded by bursaries.

Safe and conducive accommoation is another contentious issue that the students are demanding be addressed.
