Armed suspects had jumped out of the bushes at the side of the road and hijacked the vehicle.

A DURBAN motorist endured a nightmare drive after three armed suspects hijacked a vehicle at the corner of Fyfe and Silver Willow Road in Morningside at around 1.28am on Monday.

According to Blue Security’s Andreas Mathios, armed officers had responded to a property in Fyfe Road following the hijacking and were informed by a resident that two men, who had been victims of the hijacking had arrived at her gate.

The two men told officers that they had been hijacked by three armed suspects who had jumped out of the bushes at the side of the road and ambushed them.

They had taken the vehicle and a third victim hostage before driving off.

The men provided the officers with a description of the hijacked vehicle which they later located parked in Intersite Avenue, Umgeni.

The men had apparently gone to draw cash at an ATM. The victim was found unharmed standing outside the vehicle.

The suspects had fled on foot over a pedestrian bridge across the Umgeni River.

Matios said Metro, SAPS and the K9 unit had attended the scene but no arrests have been reported yet.
