Armed robbers appear in court

The suspects appeared in court for armed robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon.

THREE suspects appeared in Durban Magistrates Court last week on charges of armed robbery and the possession of a dangerous weapon.

According to Const Zanele Khomo from Durban Central SAPS, all three suspects were remanded in custody for seven days. Their arrest comes after Durban Central officers were patrolling along Warwick Avenue on 1 January at around 10am, when they were stopped by a victim who had been robbed of his belongings at gunpoint and at knifepoint.

“Officers drove around with the victim who pointed out the suspects walking by the market. The officers stopped the suspects and upon searching them one black gas pistol, one silver okapi knife and a bank card and identity document belonging to the victim were recovered,” said Khomo.

The men were arrested and charged. They will make a second court appearance this week.
