Musgrave’s little warrior keeps up the fight

Ariella Cocorozis has been improving over the past few weeks.

LITTLE Ariella Cocorozis, the five-year-old ‘warrior’ who has Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a highly aggressive and rare brain tumour, has been improving over the past few weeks and her parents beam seeing her happy nature every day.

An amount of R285 541.37 has been raised on her BackaBuddy page so far, thanks to generous donations by family, friends and the public. An amount of R500 000 is the fundraising target.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Anastasia Kougianos said: “The effects of radiotherapy treatment can last up to four months and to date Ariella has responded well to the medication treatments she has been given on the kind advice from another DIPG father abroad.”

She said the family was currently working on getting a trial drug from Europe for Ariella under compassionate care.

“Ariella’s father has made contact with Germany to arrange for this. He has had to personally travel abroad for it and left on Monday for Germany where a family is hosting him in Frankfurt. He will be meeting with a doctor this week to obtain a trial drug for Ariella” she said.

Anastasia said many fundraising events have been successfully held for Ariella and her parents are constantly moved by the public’s love and generosity for their daughter.
