UPDATE: Driver killed in Musgrave shooting

A shooting in Musgrave has claimed the life of one victim.

UPDATE:

A security alert posted on WhatsApp this evening by The Ethekwini Secure Team has alerted residents to be on the look out for a white Mercedes Benz, registration ND471… which they believe was involved in an attempted hijacking earlier this evening in Musgrave Avenue, off Musgrave Road.

According to the post the same vehicle was allegedly involved in a second incident in Hollander Crescent Morningside.  Suspects allegedly fired at a Blue Security vehicle. The security officer was not injured. Anyone who spots the vehicle is asked to call 10111 immediately and not to approach the vehicle under any circumstances as the occupants are believed to be armed.

 

One man has died and another injured in a shooting on Musgrave Avenue off Musgrave Road in Durban this evening.

According to Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Carem, paramedics responded to a report of multiple shots fired in Musgrave just before 9pm.  On arrival they found two men who had sustained gunshot wounds. One man, believed to have been the driver of the vehicle had sadly died before paramedics arrived.

The passenger was treated by advance life paramedics before being rushed to hospital.

At this stage the events leading up to the shooting are unknown but police are investigating.
