Talk and walk with tree fundi

Renowned botanist and author, Prof Eugene Moll will be in Durban next week.

RENOWNED botanist and author, Prof Eugene Moll, will a talk on A Greater Maputaland Transfrontier Park on Monday, 17 September at Durban Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre, John Zikhali Road (formerly Sydenham Road).

Prof Moll uses his more than 55 years worth of experience to discuss regional conservation priorities. He envisions Tembe Elephant Park combining with the recently formed Maputo Special Reserve and the implications it has for KZN.

Entrance including tea at 5.30pm for 6pm is R30 for BotSoc members, R50 for non-members, Students R20. All welcome. No bookings.

On Tuesday, 18 September, Prof Moll will conduct a walk around Pigeon Valley Nature Reserve, Glenwood, from 9am to 3pm.

This is a one-day tree identification and forest ecology course led by Prof Moll, who is author of many popular and scientific botanical books including the field guide, Trees of Natal, and What’s That Tree? and editor of Coates Palgrave.

Prof Moll will teach in an easy-to-understand, interactive way, tree identification skills as well as the dynamics of our local forests.
