Explosion in Umbilo

“They held up the security guards, took their hand radios and stripped them naked."

ARMED robbers held up the security guards at an Umbilo business premises before using explosives to blow up a safe on Tuesday morning.

According to Capt Pumzile Makaula from Umbilo SAPS, at 5am on 11 September, a gang of 10 suspects forced their way into the licensing department in Umbilo.

She stated, “they held up the security guards, took their hand radios and stripped them naked. It is alleged that the suspects got into the building through the roof and used an explosive to open the safe. It has not yet been established what they took from the safe.”

The SAPS bomb squad responded and police are investigating a case of business robbery.
