Order up for kiddie chefs

The Pavilion junior chef competition is now open for entries.

THE search is on for the inaugural Pavilion’s Junior Chef! This September, the centre will host the cooking competition aimed at children aged nine to 12 years old.

The Pavilion Junior Chef competition will see nine finalists competing for the prestigious title of The Pavilion Junior Chef 2018 and a prize package. The finalists will be chosen from hundreds of Pavilion shoppers as well as general KZN residents who feel they have the cooking chops that pack a punch with each mouthful of food they create.

To enter, aspiring chefs are encouraged to send a 30 to 45 second video clip of themselves explaining why they deserve to be nominated as one of the Junior Chef contestants and email the video to juniorchef@thepav.co.za. All entrants’ recipes must be sent via email. Entries close on 31 August. All entries will be reviewed by a panel of expert judges to compete in the cook off over three weeks in the build-up to the finale.

The cook off events will take place in September and the finale will be on 6 October from 12pm to 2pm. Each week the contestants will be rated by a panel of three judges, including celebrities and executive chefs, and the event will be hosted by TV personality Terence Pillay. The three winners from each round will become the finalists. The celebrity judges include Jailoshini Naidoo, Darren Maule, and Roxi Wardman.
