Film on Florida a success

Feedback was really positive, with everyone saying they would attend a Film on Florida event again.

FLORIDA Road UIP in collaboration with the Ubuntu Community Chest hosted the first Film on Florida event in Gordon Road park on Saturday evening.

Speaking on behalf of UrbanPLACES, Cara Reilly said the evening was a great success. “While we only sold 60 tickets and ran at a loss, for us and Community Chest it was about exposure on what the Chest does and for the UIP and the work it does. Perhaps more importantly, it was about the fact that public space in Florida Road can be used at night with families and it can be ‘trusted’. In fact a comment to me from one of the movie goers was that she was so pleased at how safe she felt even with her three year old running around the place,” she said.

Cara said other feedback was really positive, with everyone saying the bean bags supplied to sit on were a brilliant addition and that they would attend a Film on Florida event again.

“From a constructive point of view, people were asking for a later start and possibly a double header with a kids’ movie first followed by an adult movie, entertainment before the meeting such as by a band. So we will take this feedback and use it is the planning of the next one which we hope to do in October,” she said.
