Eco activist addresses environmental justice

Speaker is tireless campaigner Dr Desmond D’Sa of the South Durban Community Environmental Alliance.

THE Botanical Society of South Africa KZN Coastal Branch presents an illustrated talk entitled Environmental Justice – and threats to it on Monday 27 August at Durban Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre at 5.30pm for 6pm.

The August speaker is tireless campaigner Dr Desmond D’Sa of the South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA), whose motto is ‘The Right to Know, The Duty to Inquire, The Obligation to Act’.

Des will talk about injustices that have faced South Durban and that, in fact, affect all citizens. Vocal and vigilant, Des has spoken out fearlessly on behalf of the poor and marginalised on issues like air pollution, trucking, offshore gas and oil exploration drilling, the proposed port development, Clairwood Park development, and market gardeners’ and fishermen’s rights.
