Good arrests
A MAN was charged for being in possession of suspected stolen property on 11 August.
According to Capt Poobalan Naidoo from Berea SAPS, at around 7am police were patrolling along Ritson Road in Morningside when they noticed a man carrying plastic chairs.
“They stopped and questioned him and he could not give them a reasonable explanation as to where he got the chairs from. He was arrested and detained at Berea SAPS,” said Naidoo.
Naidoo said on the same day at around 8.30pm, a road block was held in Morningside by Berea SAPS.
“Twenty-one people were arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

“We want to warn the the public that if you are going out partying rather ask a family member to drop you off and pick you up or use a metered taxi. If you are caught driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs you will be charged,” he said.
Awareness
NAIDOO said people are still being scammed by depositing money into someone’s account for an advertisement placed in the paper or on a website for any items being sold or for flats for rent.
“Do not deposit money before confirming whether the advert is legitimate or not. Meet with the owner at his flat to confirm whether the flat is for rent, or with the owner of the items to be sold and view the items and purchasing. Be aware there are a lot of criminals targeting the vulnerable, so be vigilant,” he said.
