Friends support fundraiser

It was a beautiful day in Durban where family and friends of the late popular Durban travel blogger, Andy Carrie, celebrated life.

THE #LiveLikeAndy Charity event that took place on Saturday, 28 July at College Rovers Rugby Club was a resounding success, and raised funds for local charity, iThemba Lethu.

It was a beautiful day in Durban where family and friends of the late popular Durban travel blogger, Andy Carrie, celebrated life, just like Andy did everyday.

The iThemba Lethu team were there in full force and were truly the life of the party as they danced their hearts out to all the acts on the day. The event kicked off with some sweet melodies from the likes of Demi Orsmond, Andy Sutton and Freddy L. Veranda Panda then upped the tempo and prepared everyone for the likes of Majozi and Gangs of Ballet who had the crowd on their feet.

“We were very blessed to have all these amazing artists offering to play at no charge all in the name of Andy and this great cause,” said Gary Bezuidenhout, the event director.

It was an anxious moment when all five bike raffle finalists got on stage hoping their key would be the one to start the bike. After three failed attempts the winner was finally decided and Kenneth Schoerie was the lucky winner of the custom #liveLikeAndy cafe racer. Kenneth said that it was an honour and a privilege to win the bike.

“We cannot thank everyone who supported and sponsored this event enough, we could never have done it without you. All in all it was a fantastic day filled with fun, family and friends. Andy Carrie’s legacy will continue and we will all strive to #LIVELIKEANDY everyday!” said Troy O’Sullivan from Mallaz Customs.
